Introduction

The GCE 'O' Level Examinations are Secondary School graduating examinations jointly held by Singapore's Ministry of Education (MOE) and the University of Cambridge's Local Examinations Syndicate. The qualification is universally recognized, especially in the US and Commonwealth countries.

The GCE 'O' Level Examinations are particularly suited for students 16 to 25 years of age, who wish to pursue post-secondary studies in local polytechnics or in other institutions of higher learning.

Academic Progression

Upon completion of the GCE 'O' Levels Preparatory Programme, students will be able to sit for the GCE 'O' Level Examinations.

Course Delivery

The Preparatory Course For Singapore - Cambridge General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination is available only on a full-time basis, and will be conducted over the duration of 24 months. Students are expected to attend classes from Mondays to Fridays from 9am to 12pm, and from 1pm - 4pm.

Course Outline

Students will be required to take the following subjects:

• Secondary 3 Syllabus - English Language*
• Secondary 3 Syllabus - Elementary Mathematics*
• Secondary 3 Syllabus - Additional Mathematics*
• Secondary 3 Syllabus - Combined Sciences (Physics/Chemistry)*
• Secondary 3 Syllabus - Principles of Accounting*
• Secondary 4 Syllabus - English Language
• Secondary 4 Syllabus - Elementary Mathematics
• Secondary 4 Syllabus - Additional Mathematics
• Secondary 4 Syllabus - Combined Sciences (Physics/Chemistry)
• Secondary 4 Syllabus - Principles of Accounting

* Subject may be exempted depending on age and academic requirements

Students applying for admission into a local polytechnic must take 2 core subjects and 3 elective subjects. Students may choose to take all 5 subjects in one academic year, or combine the results of 2 consecutive examination sittings.

Course Availability

Admissions into the programme are conducted every January, February and March. Please contact your Education Consultant for the latest admission dates. All applications should be submitted to ERCI no later than 1 month before the commencement date.

Assessment Framework

English and Chinese: Examination-based, 80% written & 20% oral
Combined Science: Examination-based, 85% written & 15% practical
Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Principles of Accounting: 100% examination-based

All applications are subject to the Institute's assessment of eligibility for entry into the programme.

Graduation Requirements

Students must meet the attendance requirement of at least 90%, and must attain a passing grade of C6 for each subject. Upon completion of the programme, students will be awarded the Preparatory Course Completion Certificate issued by ERCI.

Course Fees

Total course fees are S$9,800.00, and are inclusive of lab fees & course materials. Course fees are subject to the prevailing GST rates, and are payable to "ERC Institute Pte Ltd" in Singapore DOLLARS.
