Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Management (Finance)


Overview

A well grounded understanding of the language and structure of finance is crucial, whether you are a manager in a corporate, a corporate employee wanting to know more about how such institutions are run, or an individual wanting to make better investment decisions. The modules in this programme are designed to provide a sophisticated body of knowledge that is applicable to slmost anyone’s life in today’s world.

Course Design & Content

  • BUSI0009 Business Strategy

    The course seeks to consolidate, develop and integrate students' learning during the entire undergraduate business programme. It aims to provide students with holistic understanding of the strategic and general management issues which confront business managers, to develop a creative yet systematic approach to business decision making, and to provide the basis for continuing self development and professional development, by encouraging analytical and critical communication skills.


  • BUSI1334 Career Management

    This course arises from the recognition that graduating students need to be equipped with vocational and personal skills to heighten their potential employability. Employability relates to the capability of individuals to gain suitable employment and to the capacity of individuals to be productive contributors in the workplace. Employability thus results in the personal and economic well-being of the individual.


  • BUSI1323 Leadership

    This course introduces students to traditional and modern concepts of leadership, and focuses on skill and knowledge development and organizational operations, effectiveness and competition. The course will help students to understand the differences between management and leadership, and why some managers fail to lead and motivate employees. The course will also focus on the link between leadership and competition in a global context.


  • Advanced Corporate Finance

    This course exposes students to the latest literature and thinking in the are of corporate finance. Current concerns are related to agency problems, asymmetric information and internationalization of corporate finance.


  • Economics

    This course seeks to provide students with a general knowledge of the basic microeconomics principles and macroeconomics policies and to relate these to the major economic institutions that form the backbone of a country’s enterprise system. This course is intended to help students gain a better understanding and the ability to analyze important microeconomics and macroeconomics matters that affect their daily lives.


  • BUSI0011 Dissertation, Thematic Study, Management Report

    The research project is a key element of the degree. It is the point where knowledge and understanding acquired though the earlier taught courses is synthesized and applied to a substantial management problem. Students reaching this level of study will have successfully completed the taught unit concerned with research methods and design.


Delivery Mode

This programme is available on both full-time & part-time mode. The course consists of 6 modules and can be completed in 12 months.

February / June / September

Assessment

Coursework and examinations will be used to access the learning outcomes of individual courses. The assessment strategy for a course is set out in the course specification.

Entry Requirements

  • ERCI Advanced Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent;
  • Local Polytechnic Diploma graduate;
  • Min. C6 in English at GCE 'O' levels or regional equivalent;
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Polytechnic graduates from non-business faculties may be required to undertake some bridging modules.
  • Matured candidates may be granted entry into the programme on a case-by-case basis as determined by the University.
  • All applications are subjected to the University's approval.
