About NITEC Certification
NITEC certification includes a series of skill
based curriculum developed by the Institute of Technical Education
(ITE), Singapore. Upon completion of the NITEC programme, students will
receive a certification issued by ITE, Singapore. In Singapore, the
certification is well recognized in both the public and private sectors
of various service industries.
Objective
This course provides students with the occupational
knowledge and skills of a Food and beverage Service Captain. The role of
the captain includes supervising operations and planning duties to
ensure efficient of quality to service to guest.
The Certification will be awarded by ITE with
the completion Off the Job Training & IA
Course Structure
Off the Job Training: 8 Months
Industry Attachment: 6 Month (Must complete off the
Job Training)
Total Training Duration: 14 Months
Industry Attachment
Study will be provided with an opportunity to
practice their classroom acquired knowledge at an approved ITE training
provider for 6 months. During the attachment, a coach will be attached
to guide you through the 6 month durations to ensure maximum learning
benefits.
Full certification
To qualify for the full NITEC certification, the
course participant must attain at 54 credits upon completion of all
modules including industry attachments.
Off the Job Training Modules & Synopsis
Effective Communication
This module will teach students to handle both oral and written communications required at the workplace at a functional level.
Customer Service
In this module, students will learn to cultivate customer rapport, manage their needs and expectations, handle service recovery and promote products and services.
Basic Restaurant Service
This module focuses on the customers’ aspects of a Food and Beverage operation. Student will learn to manage customer interaction experience such as hosting, reservations and serving food orders.
Beverage Service
In this module, student will learn the techniques of preparing and serving both of alcoholic and non- alcoholic beverages in the restaurant.
Tableside Service
Students are trained to prepare specialty coffee, perform tableside carving and tableside flambé, and decorate a dessert plate.
Related Food and Beverage Operations
Apart from main food and beverage functions, this module will teach student on complimentary service which includes payment processing, room service orders and stock take activities.
Restaurant Service
This module focuses on the customers’ aspects of a Food and Beverage operation. Student will learn to manage customer interaction experience such as hosting, reservations and serving food orders.
Food and Beverage Sales and Catering
Students are trained to prepare and present a sales proposal to guests and supervise the setting up of function rooms for events.

January / July / September
Admission requirements
- Be at least 16 years of age;
- 2 GCE “O” Level passes in any 2 subjects (Grade 1-8); or
- 3 GCE “N” Level passes in 3 subjects including English (Grade 1-5); or
- International applicants need to produce equivalent qualification as above, and applicants will be considered on a case by case basis.
- International applicants will need to meet to English requirement of either IELTS 475 or TOEFL 4.75
