Benefits of Studying the Diploma in Exercise Science and Fitness Management
The DEFM aims to support the growing needs of the exercise, fitness and wellness industry. It will equip students with specialised knowledge and skills, enabling them to help people keen to achieve overall fitness and wellness.
Currently, there is lack of industry-related diplomas specifically in the area of exercise & fitness. Furthermore, the educational qualifications of most exercise & fitness professionals in Singapore are below tertiary level. If the industry is to advance, better and higher qualified professionals are needed to provide better care and service to people keen to improve their health and fitness levels.
The DEFM curriculum is designed to prepare students for professional certification examinations and/or qualifications. Specifically, it is aligned with the Singapore Sports Council Fitness Instructor’s Certification (FIC) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certification in Personal Training, USA. This is to ensure that graduates of the DEFM are industry-relevant and professionally competent when they complete the diploma course.
